who is green era?

Green Era is a partnership comprised of multiple entities who are working together to bring green energy and jobs to Chicago’s Southside.

  1. Green Era Sustainability is a six year old company located in Chicago, IL. It is composed of biotechnology, green energy, and urban growing experts who are dedicated to sustainability and social justice. Green Era’s principals are President Erika Allen and Jason Feldman, who lead a board of managers and a team of dedicated professionals. Sustainability has engaged early investors and a newly formed entity: Racial and Social Equity Investors, LLC, to be managed by Urban Growers Collective and the Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation, which has invested a share of the Chicago Prize.

    2. Green Era 83rd St LLC is the project entity that is building and will operate the Anaerobic Digester.

    3. Green Era Educational NFP is a 501(c)(3) public charity that is the site developer and landowner for all entities operating businesses on the site, and which served as initial fiscal sponsor to launch UGC (below). In the future, Educational will lead green energy-related activities, educational tours, and site improvements.

    4. Urban Growers Collective: The remaining 7 acres will house the urban farm, a building for community engagement, plaza and event space, a garden center, permaculture design and programming with an (estimated) budget of $3.9M, which ultimately will be determined by the construction costs and design elements to be formalized during the charrette design process that has started and will be completed by mid-July ‘21. The design will support Urban Growers Collective operations (HQ office, training programs, etc.) on the campus and will lead in engaging and integrating community members and key stakeholders. UGC has a 99-year lease for the campus.
